Introduction from the headteacher

Thank you for your interest in Chiltern Academy - the new school we are opening for the families and children in Luton. We are really excited at the prospect of opening a school that is able to offer a truly outstanding experience for your child.

Our school will be opening in September 2018, on the excellent York Street site, before moving to the brand new building at the Brache in 2019. Our aim is to create an outstanding school, with a balanced curriculum and a firm focus on pupil outcomes.

We are determined this school will be one that the whole community can be proud of. Please join us in this amazing and exciting journey. We look forward to your child joining us in September.

KEY INFORMATION ABOUT CHILTERN ACADEMY

For a more detailed look into Chiltern Academy, please take a moment to look through some of the other sections of this site. To get in touch, please visit the contact page or call us using the details shown at the bottom of the page.

Chiltern Academy will deliver a fairly traditional curriculum, but it's enrichment activities will focus on our specialist areas of sport and technology.  Our Trust and Chiltern Academy have already built strong links with local sports clubs such as Luton Town football club and Bedford Blues Rugby club. Also, we are developing strong links with local businesses and the airport, based around technology and engineering.

The school will be run by Chiltern Learning Trust, and based around the practices of our two truly outstanding schools - Denbigh High and Challney High School for Boys. These two schools are hugely oversubscribed and produce pupil standards that are amongst the best in the region and country.  The Middle leadership of Chiltern Academy will be provided by the outstanding talent already within our Trust - they know Luton well, and know how to provide an outstanding education.  As Chief Executive, it is my responsibility to oversee the successful opening of the school. Prior to my current position, I was a Headteacher in Bedfordshire, and took my school to three consecutive 'outstanding' judgements.

The Chiltern Academy will be a mixed-sex, 11-16 secondary Free School for 1200 students, when at capacity, with eight forms of entry. The admission number for September 2018 will be 210. From September 2019 the admission number will then be 240. Although being a ‘Free School’, the Chiltern Academy will follow the National Curriculum with specialist areas of Sport, Engineering and Business.

As a new school, the students will benefit from an outstanding working environment which will provide a comfortable and enjoyable place to learn, supported by the very latest technologies.

It is the Trust’s aim to make this an ‘Outstanding’ school for the Luton community and the new school will have strong links with local businesses, providing additional enrichment and vocational opportunities for its students.
