Ian Douglas, Headteacher

Brief Profile

Ian has been teaching for twenty years and has taught in two outstanding secondary schools. Ian is recognised as being one of the main leaders in the transformation over time of the outstanding Denbigh High School and worked there for sixteen years. Ian has been a Specialist Leader of Education advising schools in Luton, London and Stevenage on how to improve behaviour and attendance over time. Ian has a reputation of developing outstanding leaders in education and many of the staff he has trained or mentored now work as senior leaders in Chiltern Learning Trust schools.

Swimming coaching is one of Ian’s passions and he has coached elite swimmers to National and International level. He still coaches for a club and mentors coaches from other clubs.

Julia Spence, Assistant Headteacher

Umara Qureshi, Assistant Headteacher

Umara is an outstanding science teacher with experience at KS3, KS4 and KS5 in Luton Secondary schools and is committed to driving excellence and outstanding progress at all levels. Umara has worked as a as a leader for raising standards within science departments across a MA resulting in significant improvement in outcomes at KS4 and KS5. Shenila Abbas, Teacher for Mathematics / Specialist Leader of Education

Brief Profile

Shenila is an exceptional secondary Mathematics teacher with 20 years of teaching experience. She has in depth knowledge of Mathematics teaching and assessment and has developed a successful structure to coordinate the mentoring of NQTs and PGCE students to high standards.  She is the course leader for the Maths TSST programme and has set up the curriculum for Chiltern Academy.  Shenila has worked with primary schools to improve Mathematics teaching and lessen the gap in the transition to secondary school. Shenila has been parts on university studies to promote mathematical thinking and manipulative structures.

Shenila is an outstanding facilitator for the Chiltern Learning Trust developing from NQT’s to senior leaders.

Dan Pallett, Teacher of Design, Technology & Engineering/Specialist Leader of Education

Brief Profile

Dan has worked in three outstanding schools, leading an outstanding Design Technology and Engineering faculty within a Teaching School. He has expertise across Engineering, Resistant Materials, Graphic Design and Product Design. He has designed innovative curriculums in KS1-5 that have revolutionised the teaching of Design and Engineering, and given rise to outstanding pupil outcomes. Recently, Dan has transformed Challney Boys Engineering Department, not only vastly improving their grades but increasing pupils opting for engineering tenfold.
